Parajet Cyclone 294cc In SA PDF  | Print |  E-mail

 Parajet Cyclone 294cc

in SA

Well finally the first Parajet Cyclone 294cc has arrived and been delivered to a very happy Reaan Swanepoel. The motor central section arrived this morning but the farm arrived on Friday already.
The flying unlimited staff were so excited when the box arived that by the time I got down into the factory the motor was unpacked and almost assembled. I must say it is a stunning motor and very neat. After installing the radiator we did a hang check in the factory with me being the correct weight for the current setup it arrived with. The motor was hanging quite far back and the staff were worried it would be too much. I explained that the motor was very powerful and will need to hang further back to counter the balance of the engines thrust to the pilots body weight. Reaan Canceled some of his appointments when we called him and rushed off to get here. We waited to start the motor only when he arrived. We had already filled the radiator with antifreeze and water so it was ready for the fuel. Surprising though it uses a heavy oil ratio of 35ml to 1 liter of fuel. This is because the central bearings require additional lubrication and cooling while the motor is running. You see the motor is a rotary engine and has bearings in the middle of the  motor.
Reaan and I held the motor as he started it and even at idle running at 2300rpm it pushes quite well. The motor runs up to 7400rpm and was run for 40 min before we received it so the run in process was already well on its way. The engine note is pleasant and the vibration is not bad at idle but not present once you rev it up. This is one smooth and very powerful ppg.
Reaan ran the motor to about 80% power and the ground and his 106kg frame was not able to sustain the force with out being kicked vertical. Remember we are 4600ft asl so we loose about 23% thrust up here and this PPG is delivering well. Nice work Gilo, you certainly are the genius they say you are.
One thing though is trying to move the PPG around is a good work out session for a weakling like me, but once it is on your back it is easier to carry than I thought it would.

We are all very eager to see this PPG fly but with the weather as it is now we might not be flying over Easter.

Tony
