USA Police adopt PPG for survelence.Click for Video A division of the USA police force has adopted PPG's for survelence work. This is a big step in the right direction for rescue and survelence observations. It is far cheaper and easier to train pilots to fly these aircraft than to fly Planes and choppers and the cost of the aircraft and its maintenance is a fraction of the cost of any other aircraft. So you get the job done at a tiny fee in comparison to what is being spent at the moment. We as PPG pilots have assisted the police in South Africa before unofficily finding cables that are stolen and also in the early days of PPG an instructor in Durban helped with the arrest and recovery of a stolen car. He was doing a demonstration flight when a car theft was reported to him. Without much hasel he picked up the car and followed it and saw the driver exit the car and stand off to one side to see if the police were tracking it with the satelite trackers. Then when they arrived the pilot told them where the thief was and they arrested the correct person. This is just a small contribution. In the Tsunami flood area PPG pilots from around the world arrived to search for survivors and then bodies in the area by marking them on their GPS's and then giving the co-ordinates to the search parties. In doing so the recovery of Bodies and survivors was hastened and these aircraft were some of the few types that were capable of flying there other than the costly Helicopters. PPG's have a real place in SAR type work and can get really close to the action and see things in minute detail due to the speed and agility of the aircraft.
