Trip back to SA from China This morning I managed to sleep in for the first time this trip. I packed all my clothes into the crates heading to SA so had almost nothing to drag back other than my boots and my new helmet with a change of clothes in case I needed it. After some hug and hand shaking with the other teams we were off to collect the frames from the airfield all this was done while the rest of the team were waiting for the bus. At the Beijing airport we stood around waiting for a person to come and assist us through customs. This took about 45min and once we were in we still had to check our luggage and t all seemed to go well until our frames were handed back to us. We were almost through customs then but got dragged back to the check-in counters. Here we waited for the officials to work out what to do with our frames as they said the plane was too small to take them. I could not believe that the 737 we flew over in could not take the same equipment back to Hong Kong. After a few hours of waiting eventually they put the frames on the plane and we had a great flight to Hong Kong. On arrival here in Hong Kong( I am sitting in the airport writing this now)we hit a snag. We came to transfers and tried to get our Boarding passes. We have been told that our luggage now weighs about 150kg heavier than we booked it in and they want us to pay about R40000 more. We told them that we were never going to pay that and that they will have to off load the plane and weigh our baggage. The china air line has made a big mistake on the weights and now the check-in counter is having to take the brunt for this from us. I am absolutely irritated with the Chinese airline for really stuffing us around and then causing SA Airways to stop us in our trip home with al this. I was looking forward to doing some duty free shopping but now it looks like that is just a pipe dream. The Chinese have really not given us the easiest trip and I wonder if it is because we are travelling in our National Colours as a group or if they are just not geared up for teams. If so I would hate to be in a team going to the Olympics. The other thing is we could not pay with credit cards anywhere in the areas we were other than in the central city areas. The transport was up to 1 hour later than the times told to us for collection. No one is in a hurry in China. The Olympics in 2008 is going to be interesting if this is the trouble a 6 man team from South Africa is experienced. cheap viagra
