Introductory flight (Motor down for Service)

Full Powered Paragliding Course: R10000

On your own Equipment 

· Temporary membership to SAHPA (for 3 months) (R400.00)

· Third Party Liability Insurance

· Casevac Insurance

· Training Manual and your primary reference book (R550.00)

· A MINIMUM of 35 flights, lots of theory and personal tuition.

· An open-book Theoretical Knowledge Test which you write at home

· Duration: You should be able to complete the full paragliding course in One to Five months part-time (evenings and weekends), depending on the effort you put in, the time you make available and the weather.

· Once complete, an additional payment to SAHPA for the license, which includes the mandatory 3rd Party Liability Insurance, Casevac Insurance, membership to Aero Club of SA, SAHPA magazine. SAHPA Membership is renewable annually.


The requirements are:

A minimum of three sites flown.
A minimum of three different days flown.
A minimum of Ten powered flights flown from LEVEL ground under instructor
supervision (Note: you may do some flights from a slope, but then they will not
count towards the ten launches off level ground).
A minimum of Three forward pullups in less than 5kph wind which result in a
successful launch.
A minimum of Three reverse pullups in more than 15kph which result in a
succesful launch,
At least one planned outlanding at least 10km from the launch, where the
student does the remote field and conditions evaluation from the air before
landing (if not safe, then abort the outlanding). After at least 30 minutes on
the ground, the student again does the evaluation of launching conditions.
At least one cross country flight of at least 30km distance, with the first
turnpoint is not visible from launch, where the student exhibits all aspects of
flight planning, navigation, airspace awareness and avoidence where required,
radio communications, emergency landing options awareness, traffic separation
procedures, fuel management, etc. No Out and return along the same radial
permitted, so a triangle is suggested.
All maneovres that are required for the PG license, must again be demonstrated
on the PPG, such as big-ears, emergency steering, assymetric deflations, rapid
decent options, etc.
A least one 50 meter power-off spot landing, and 3 meter power-on spot landings
must be demonstrated.
There are a few other requirements as well, which your instructor will detail.

 

The Powered Conversion course: R6000.00

On your own Equipment

· Theory of powered paragliding flight

· Ground-handling with the Paramotor (As required)

· A minimum of 10 powered flights (including one cross country, and one remote out landing and re-launch)

· An open-book Theoretical Test (write this at home at your own leisure)

· Discussing the questions you got wrong, to ensure you have a thorough understanding of these aspects.


The requirements are:

The Aircraft Radio Course: R850

The Aircraft Radio Course can be done with any Flying School, but we strongly suggest you do this with a Certified ATC instructor.

We have a special arrangement in Gauteng with Grand Central , where the radio course is done over one weekend intensive training at a cost of only R850. This course is run ad-hock when there are a total of Ten students for the radio course. You need to book well in advance (through us) and bring Four passport size photographs.
